Stella is a rising high school sophomore with an intense fascination with historical events. She has completed two separate capstones detailing historical and metaphysical concepts such as anti-intellectualism, enlightenment, and enlightened absolutism.
Stella’s historical/civic knowledge has been supplemented by her completion of "Leadership and Civic Engagement: Democracy at a Crossroads," a summer course hosted at Brown University’s Leadership Institute.
She plans to further this strain of education by taking Advanced Placement (AP) history courses at The Ranney School, as well as completing the Global Citizens Certificate.
She is also an active participant of Harvard Model Congress (HMC), Debate, Model United Nations (MUN) as secretary, and Student Council as a class representative. She has thus far won two gavels, one in HMC and one in MUN, and is currently interning with the Monmouth County Democrats.
Stella developed this project through her passion for history, civics, and politics. She was very disillusioned with the state of the world and found comfort in exploring historical parallels. Stella, above all, believes in the power of hope and perseverance, and built this project around these core values.
Ben is a rising high school senior with a profound passion for history. Driven by a desire to understand the complexities of the past and their impact on the present, Ben plans to pursue a history degree in college.
Ben has already built a strong academic foundation in the subject by excelling in several Advanced Placement (AP) history courses at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, New Jersey. Ben is excited to expand his knowledge further in the upcoming school year by taking additional challenging classes, including AP Government and Politics and AP European History.
Beyond the classroom, Ben is the Secretary of his school's Model United Nations program, where he has improved his critical thinking, research, and diplomatic skills by attending yearly conferences in Boston, Massachusetts.
He is looking forward to serving as a committee chair this upcoming year.
With an unwavering love for history, Ben is thrilled and honored to be included in the Hope Project.
